prototype experimental pistols Mauser-Nickl in 9 mm Parabellum
two pistols Mauser-Nickl experimental prototypes. They are made in Oberndorf in 1916 or so. Calibre 9 mm Parabellum are. Different mechanisms are evident. They have serial numbers ending with 2-digit odd. Are continuous and various parts numbered. example:
Serial Number = 2 * n +1 for every integer n the interval (5.49)
n = 5 NS 11
n = 6 NS 13
...
...
n = 48 NS 97
n = 49 NS 99
They are in the family (Argentina) for decades. They were never restored, or managed by inexperienced people.

Re: prototype experimental pistols Mauser-Nickl in 9 mm Parabellum
As you see are 2 units.
Have different mechanisms evident.
They have 9 mm Parabellum barrels (9 mm Luger = 9x19).
The inscriptions are different "Waffenfabrik-Mauser" and another "Mauser-Werke."
Observe the length of the barrels.
Sorry for what I say. But the 1910 has nothing to do.
These guns are not "pistols vestpockets" (as the name for small) have similar sizes to a colt 1911.

i know they are not the same guns im ponting out the similarties yours just seems like an enlarged version of the 1910 also just wondering why they have been in your family for decades but they have only just become knowledgeable to the public via photos now during nearly 100years and only now do you have pictures

Re: prototype experimental pistols Mauser-Nickl in 9 mm Parabellum
Obviously I'm the only one who has these pictures because I am the owner.
It takes more pictures on the bed, nothing special.
My father the true owner permtio some pictures a few years ago.
He does not ever allowed to photograph them.
Other outlets will be rare to see, not think up more pictures. Less mechanisms reveal systems, numbers and details inside.
It's just next owner takes all.
The gun works although they were never used.
It will be restored or cleaned. In the photos when you zoom hae fat you can see the factory for example, near the buttons of the magazines.

Re: prototype experimental pistols Mauser-Nickl in 9 mm Parabellum
Interesting pistols.
In "Mauser Pistolen" by W Darrin Weaver, Jon Speed and Walter Schmid (Collector Grade Publications 2008), a very similar (possibly identical) pistol is illustrated.
It was designed by Joseph Nickl and designated the Model 1929 and chambered for 9mm Parabellum (9x19).
This pistol is itself a modification of one designed by Nickl towards the end of, or just after the end of, the First World War.
An interesting feature is the rear sight which is also the safety. To engage the safety the sight is rotated through 90 degrees - this blocks the firing pin.
The gun never went into production.
Quite valuable I would imagine to a specialised collector.

Re: prototype experimental pistols Mauser-Nickl in 9 mm Parabellum
I suppose that this development is the years 1916-1922 because the inscription "Waffenfabrik" and the other 1922-1929.
The issue is the number?? continues!
That means "Als Schlagbolzensicherung ausgebildetes Visier fuer Feuerwaffen mit Hahn" was several years without being patented. That is until 22/09/1929?
Or am I wrong or is another cloud of unknowns on the Mauser!!
