    Default S 98 quillback (dress?)

    Hello

This will be my first post (other then new member post) so my apologies now if this is he wrong spot.

However I purchased this S 98 quillback and was hopeing someone could educate me. Only marking is what is pictured on the riccaso, and from what I have read this would have been a dress bayonet?

    Thank you
    Ryan

Hello Ryan, a lovely example of the "walking out" or "dress" S1898 bayonet made by Carl Eickhorn. It has the twin wood grips plates (rather than the one piece type) and is without the High Ear muzzle guide. This would date it, particularly with the very early and rarely seen Eickhorn trade mark version, to shortly after 1906.
Original leather scabbard. Thanks for showing us.

    Welcome to the forum.
I wish I could be of more help. All I can say is that twin squirrel logo
is from the Eichhorn factory and I think dates to the early 1920s.

There are a couple guys that frequent Imperial that are really sharp when
it comes to blades Hopefully one or both will check out your bayo.
