'The Blue Max' book was the just the first of Jack D. Hunter's trilogy of novels describing the life of the fictional WW1 air ace Bruno Stachel ............ and his later Nazi career.

I'm lucky enough to have examples of each of the three books in my collection.

And also examples of each of (the fictional) Bruno's three (original) awards !

OK ................ the PLM is a 57er. (Just like the one on the book cover !)

Still ................... a nice comparative set.

Three great awards Robin. Even the '57 Pour Le Merite is a nice.

IMHO, the Pour Le Merite is the nicest German award ever produced. Issued examples are just rare as hens teeth and crazy expensive. Even post war original "wearer copies" cost an arm and a leg.
