    A revision of post #28. Kurt August Karl Böhmer was a veteran of the Great War and later a Heer officer that was awarded the Eiserner Halbmond. The capacity of his service in the far east is unknown but near the end of the war he was serving as Leutnant der Reserve bei der Militär-Eisenbahn Direktion Nr. 7 Abteilung IX He was reenlisted in the Heer and at the time of this photo he was a Leutnant in Infanterie Regiment 63. By profession he was a Geheimer Regierungs-Baurat.
    On his uniform is the Eiserner Halbmond and the Kriegsehrenkreuz für heldenmütige Tat (awarded 16.4.1918). On his spange is the Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse 1914, Lippe-Detmold Hausorden 4.Klasse Abtl. B mit Schwertern (awarded 10.11.1918), Kriegsverdienstkreuz Lippe-Detmold, Bulgarisches Verdienstkreuz 5.Klasse mit Schwertern, an unknown medal awarded after 1933, and the Frontkämpferehrenkreuz.

    Franz Ritter Höfer von Feldsturm began his military career at a young age when he first attended the Militär-Unterrealschule in Sankt Pölten. He continued on to the Militär-Oberrealschule in Mährisch-Weißkirchen, the technischen Militärakademie in Wien in 1882. In 1888 he graduated a higher artillery course in Vienna, the K.U.K. Artillerie-Schießschule, after he had served as a Leutnant in Feldartillerie Regiment Nr.6. In 1890, as General Stabsoffizier in 28. Infanterie Brigade, and then to the telegraph office of the General Stab in 1892. Studied field and fortress telegraphs in Germany in 1896. Upon returning to Austria, he commanded 1. batterie of 11. Korps Artillerie Regiment. In 1899, a Major and General Chief of Staff over 5. Infanterie Truppendiv. until his transfer to the office of the General Stab in 1900. In 1904, serving in Divisions Artillerie Regiment Nr.6, the next year to Stab II. of this regiment, and later the commander. Commander and Oberst of 3. Feldartillerie Brigade although by the end of the year he had become deputy chief of the general stab. Official author of the Austro-Hungarian army reports during the Great War.
