Unknown Dog Tag

Article about: Does anyone have any idea what kind of tags this could be. These are labeled the same. But other stamp sets were used. If the numbers are the same, what is the meaning of the tags?

These are some sort of inventory or "property number" tags for a piece of Naval equipment that these may have been attached to, and not for human use as a "dog tag".

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Best Regards,

    Alan

The "393" is for the Item or Property Number that this tag was attached to at one time.

The "III" of course is for the battalion number I would estimate.

    Best Regards,

    Alan
