    Hello saruman,

Awarded silver wound badges from World War I usually consist of sheet iron or non-ferrous metal that has been silver lacquered. The hollow-embossed variant was common. Pieces made of 800 silver are usually privately purchased duplicates, which were often made by jewelers.

A hallmark of 800 on the needle refers not only to the needle itself, but to all silver parts of the piece, for example an 800 on the needle of an iron cross (duplicate from jeweler) refers to the needle and the silver setting but of course not to the Core.

Some points on the badge look different than what I know them to be, so I'm not sure if it's authentic. Since wounded badges are not part of my collecting area, I think another member with more experience in this area can bring more light into the dark.

    Best regards
    Wolf

I can only echo Wolf's comments. 800 silver WBs are known and sought after.
However I am not familiar enough with them to offer a solid opinion. I like
the looks of this one and I hope that it turns out to be a good one.
