Hello buellmeister,
a pretty nice cross. I would be interested in how you recognized that it is an Iron Cross from the 1940s, that was issued by a Deutsche Offiziers Verein / German officers' association?
Best regards

Ken,
I thank you so much for your kind words. This year certainly has put a strain on us all one way or another and I hope you and your family are well?

Joel
toot,
Thank you!
Wolf,
I 'm led to believe that the DOV had stocks of crosses made post WWI and they were offered for sale up into the 1940s. Sorry for the confusion with my wording for they were sold, not manufactured. If anyone can share more specific evidence or insight I'd love to know.

The DOV was a collective of manufactures that acted kind of like the Sears and Roebucks for german officers.
It was started in 1884 and lasted until 1943. It was a place where German
officers could buy high quality gear at reasonable prices. You could buy anthing
from medals and uniforms to edged weapons, guns ever furnished apartments (if you
were unmarried)
