    Hi everyone,

My son got hold of an interresting set. AEF uniform jacket and a helmet of the 54 Division PE. I understand this was the Pioneer regiment that was attached to the Division. The Helmet has use and a nice patina. On the side the decal of the 54th can still be seen and on the back there is an big 'V' visible. This looks like a Corporals sign for the troops behind. I don't know if this was the same practice in WW1 as in WW2. Also the 'V' is upside down in comparison with the Corporals stripe on the uniform. Could this be a sign of front use???

A nice surprise was that in the uniform pocket I found 4 ribbons from WW2. Could be from the son of the AEF veteran.

    Cheers Paul

The stripe could be a wounded in action stripe, just a thought. Nice find

The collar brass is for Co. E 54th Pioneer Infantry Regiment, which was attached to First Army and later Third Army.

Third Army insignia on front, the side looks more like a 28th Div insignia. The "V" on the back of the helmet could just possibly be for "Victory". Some red writing below the divisional insignia, perhaps "?us".

There's something before that. I'll try to investigate more.

Very nice group Paul. Always enjoy viewing these US WW1 uniforms and helmets. I assume this was an online acquisition rather than something that showed up in the Netherlands?

Very nice grouping. the red chevron is for honorable discharge. A wound chevron is golden in color and pointing down and worn lower on the sleeve I believe.
