belgian 1889 bayonet crossguard modification

have You ever encountered this type of crossguard modification to the m89 bayonet?maybe to fit a gewehr 88?
any info aprreciated
by the way is it a infantry model?i've heard about at least two versions of this bayonet

Interesting how there is difference in the corrosion and pitting visible on the blade and hilt, but not effecting the crossguard. It would seem the crossguard modification may have been made not so long ago.

Certainly the piece is wrong, the crossguard is new when compare the rust on blade, the M1889 wout ring could be not fixed on any rifle. is too short slot for good bayonet attachment. This is a wrong replacement crossguard.
