Canon "nereide" 1808 brest

NEREIDE 1808 BREST

Hello, I would like to know the story of my bronze cannon from the 1808 period "Le Néréide" was a French frigate. The barrel is all in bronze and it is very heavy. I have a little idea but it needs to be confirmed, Thanks in advance for any info.

I would doubt it. The stampings and engravings are awful and for something as expensive as a cannon I would expect much better. I'm no cannon expert but I would not touch it with a barge pole.
