Thanks for sharing Michel, it was the biggest non-nuclear man-made explosion in history.
And it happened 100 years ago today.
My friend in Paris wanted to see the ceremony at the TV, I discover the catastrophe.

Also of interest is the fact that Manhattan Project scientists studied the Halifax Explosion in order to calculate the effects of a nuclear blast on a city. Many of the injured where hurt by flying glass with thousands blinded. It is a very interesting story, and it should be more widely know. Nova Scotia still sends Boston a Christmas tree every year to thank them for the help they sent after the explosion. Thanks for the interest , also there will be lots of news stories with this being the hundreds anniversary today.
Cheers
I read about this tragedy, in this month's "Britain at War" UK magazine, yesterday.
That must have been some bang, a very interesting and sad article.
Considering the huge loss of life (2000+), I'm amazed that it's little known world wide.
Nice story about the Christmas tree too
