dunno mate...but I bet some Clever Trousers could identify the Tunic / Buttons so at least you'd have a nationality....sadly that ain't me! :-)

Yep....it’s either for use on a Nuclear Sub Conning Tower....or in an early plane.....or made specifically for someone with a huge left ear.......maybe....
I never saw this before, but I am going to assume it is an experimental hood for cold weather, flying, or something along those lines.
There were plenty of experimental items made in the war, and I cannot count how many different things i've seen. Perhaps this is the only photograph and information of this hood left? I haven't a clue what it is besides the thought I gave above.

Perhaps part of experimental gas or chemical protection? With face visor/ respirator missing. Just a guess.
