I agree, and thank you for your comment.
It seems many of what should be ‘red flags’ can be found as period photographic evidence (such as the repositioned Adler, squeezed in tradition badges, &c.), so, as you say, only those with corresponding markings or maker locations can come anywhere near being trusted.
Sad, as some genuine examples may never be trusted again, but such is the damage caused by the unscrupulous.
Too scary a mine field for any but the well-versed.
