I am afraid this is a Janke-reproduction of a Nebeltruppen cap. I think I have seen this cap already somewhere in the forum. Hopefully for you I am wrong and the specialists will contradict me.

Oh no, I have not purchased but was interested in it very much But didn’t get a warm fuzzy feeling on this one so I wanted to hear from other people. Thank you for comment

I believe it to be an original Derwig, but with a replaced sweatband.

Most Derwigs I have seen were made by Schellenberg, with their diamond perforation pattern.
They were also ersatz, and prone to tearing (shown is what is typical for them).

Could be a wartime replacement, but could also be postwar.

Thank you Chris! What about the visor/peak - I can see no cross-hatch pattern on the underneath, and a matte, late-war like lacquering - might it have been replaced, too?

As to the colour of the piping: on my screen it appears bordeauxrot, could also be karmesinrot for GS/Vet - what do you think?

I would love to see detailed/enlargable pictures of the stiffener of the front seam (as in the last two pics which won't enlarge).

Wolfgang, I agree--looks like Nebel to me.
I have seen visors without the crosshatching before--I know my Derwig lacks it, so the visor could be original.

    Hello Thebryguy,
lukily for you I seem to have been wrong - in this case this would be a very rare Nebeltruppen cap. Nevertheless try to get more/better detailed pictures, particularly from behind the sweatband/the visor.

Interesting visor and interesting thread! In my opinion, a very faint checkered pattern can be seen here (around the shiny area)

Maybe additional photos could confirm this. In any case, I agree with Stonemint, the hat looks like a good one.

    MG.

Yes, I picked it up! I will update you on Photos when I have a moment. Thank you so much for the words of wisdom and references. My biggest concern was just a sweatband as everything else looked good.
