Nice cap - on my screen the crown looks rather brownish. Both the eagle and the wreath seem to be positioned very low on the cap and the chinstrap is under the metal wreath. I don't know who put these there that way but they seem to have been there from the beginning on. Perhaps the person had had a hard week-end?

I think your right Wolfgang, none of the prongs penetrate the lining, cripes the moths really love chewing on piping, this is one more farbe off my list

Nice looking cap. Congrats on a great find. I could see caps getting passed down, through advancement in rank giving it to subordinate, friend, or because he got a new cap. Being sentimental and passing items on I believe occurred way more then we think. Normally with badges though.
