I am looking at this enlisted mans cap in consideration of trading for it but it seems different from other caps I have looked at with its aluminum wreath and stitched cockade. Could it be an original cap with the wreath, cockade and eagle replaced?

    Evening Douglas,
I'm afraid I can't comment on originality, but here are some pictures of my example to compare against.

P.S. I do apologise for the random picture of a red-legged partridge and a miscellaneous tunic, I was uploading the photos without the ability to see what I was doing.

As an FYI....this is an enlisted mans visor. Not officers.

This is an original Schirmmuetze. Nice early date too. The replaced cockade is quite unusual and I agree with Glenn - not unknown to mix insignia. Sometimes you also encounter cloth Adler sewn to the peak instead of metal insignia. I like it. Neil

I am with Neil. Nice shape displaying one of the higher crowns. Some loose stitches in the lining which could be easily fixed.

It has taken me more than an hour to find out who the maker was, but finally I succeeded. The maker located in München, Goethestr. 34, was Bayerische Mützenfabrik Wilhelm Schreiber.

I know this is an old thread but did any one notice the different colored visor undersides in the photos .. Is that of the same cap ?
