My apologies for flaming up an old thread. But I just keep on thinking about this topic.
There are so many exceptions to the rule in this hobby. Take a look at the following cap:
SS cap without piping. Material looks spot on. I hope there is any picture evidence supporting this.
Because I do believe this is a genuine cap.
