Wim Saris' vol. 6 on German headgear book is about Reichsbahn etc. Your cap is not from the Weimar era. As it has the blue piping around the crown it seems to be from around 1935 - then it might just have had the cockade and the eagle. The winged wheel was introduced in 1941. Yours is silvery so must have been for Kleinbahn. What colour are the buttons? If black then a chin strap was on the cap (lowest paygrade), if gilt any cord from blue with yellow flecking, two strands of blue and two strands of yellow up to gilt with blue flecking was possible - depending on the pay grade. All the details are in Wim's book: Headgear of Hitler's Germany" Vol. 6.
As there are gilt buttons on the cap, there should be cords on it - any of these three would fit, depending on the rank of the former wearer:
