I posted some links of the development of Schellenbergs in this thread (post # 9): triumph stirndruckfrei DRGM

Given that Schellenberg was only founded in the 1930ies (cp. Wilkins) the change must have been made quite early, most likely before 1940 - but that is mere speculation.

Data from the year 2000. I wish I had gotten the grey SS cap here. Don't ask me to interpret it. Maybe the cap curator can do so.Schellenberg sweat sheildSchellenberg sweat sheild The grey SS cap was Gerard Stezelberger's and it may be in the Beaver/Shea cap book.

Does the redoubtable Wilkins have the patent data for the Lubstein forehead pressure thingy, and that for Schellenberg, too?

I cannot recall. I do not refer to the book very much. None of this is my property, though I own a Schellenberg cap, just not this one.

Schellenberg is well-known for his headgear for the forestry-organizations,
including private and airforce forestry and such.
At a quick glance I found these inners for Schellenberg for caps as worn
    since 1938/1939 anyway.

    Dear F.-B.,
    thanks for the missing link!

What concerns the patent numbers, indeed he does:

Schellenberg: D.R.G.M.: 1 383 756, registered on Aug. 27, 1936, "Vorrichtung zur Verhinderung von Stirndruck bei Mützen"
ErEl: Deutsches Reichspatent Nr. 694 529, Class 41b Group 2, "Kopfbedeckung mit Schweißband" (Wilkins even has the facsimile in Appendix C of his book.)

So here we are, the complete history of Schellenberg-logos:

If memory serves, there are at least two Schellberg forehead ecstasy patents.

How can such a minor aspect of the German war machine elicit so much interest.

Maybe the burden of going Sieg Heil all day put too much weight on your head in the first years of the regime?

Schellenberg caps are under appreciated in the Lubstein centric cosmos.

I also owned on of these last gasp infantry caps with the cheapo fittings and the red letter on the shield and so on.

    Once again great information.
    Thank you.

Does the visor have anything to do with the date?
It does not appear to be like the visors shown in the other photos.

Here is an image of the visor.
