Looks fine to me. But replacing the insignia, if that is what you would want to do, would be expensive. Better to buy a complete example.

So the guy I want to buy it from is asking 150euro for this one. Is this a good price? He said that het took off the insignia from the had himself.... So originially there were nog insignia on this hat at all?

An SS Fez in good original condition in the USA can command between $1000 and $1300! I have no idea how much it would cost to obtain original replacement insignia and what effect it would have on the value of the piece once the insignia were sewn onto it, if that was your intention. I don't collect soft caps, but have been looking into purchasing 1 or 2 Fezs recently, and i agree with Ade that this one looks right from what I have seen. It is just a shame that the bird and skull are gone. Jim G.

Hi Harry, the book you mention was written in good faith but the author himself is the first to admit mistakes were made. It is now out dated due to new info and by the rise of the Internet.

Would it not be possible to draw a list up of reliable reference books for members to use? I know mistakes do occur in books, but people only buy books to increase their knowledge on the subject. They will have no way of knowing whether the contents are wrong - unless they are told.
