Hi Forum,
I am having a hard time determing which colour this is.
* Chemical?
* Artillery?
* Animals?
Any insights, appreciated.

Red, Artillery.

On my screen it doesn't look bright enough for hochrot Artillery, more like karmesin for Generalstab/Veterinär (the thread with which it is stiched to the flap also looks quite dark, not bright red). Of course it could also have darkened due to age/dirt - any chance of seeing the ends under the flap? Doesn't seem to be bordeauxrot for smoke troops, which would be still darker.
Definitely looks red on my screen..
Is that tarnished (or rather, subdued) silver Officers’ piping to the upper edge I see?
It is indeed an officer cap. This picture shows the colours a bit brighter.
It is listed as Nebeltruppen but I just do not see it if I compare it with the colour on a visor cap for example.
You can compare to the colours here:
Looks like arty from this comparison I think..
@ErWeSa it is on dealer website for sale. Quite limited with the images. This indeed looks deep red to me. Thanks for chiming in.
Looking to treat myself on something nice instead of going on vacation. In Europe I doubt vacation this year will be a regular care-free situation.
Just happened to find it on the dealer's site. I am about to revise my opinion that it can't be smoke troops. Looking at the thread with which the soutache is stitched to the cap I think this could be bordeauxrot. Perhaps the soutache itself hasn't darkened but got brighter during the last 80 years.
Hi ErweSa, considering the cap itself is a bit discoroured this can be the case. I sent an Email to the dealer but after a few mails back and forth I think he didn't get my question I believe. I think the cap is a good price for the condition.
