I found some nice photo's on Shea's site of an ALLGEMEINE SS KEPI utilizing a TK similar to one of the Danziger variants I posted earlier from my collection. I like to reinforce the notion that while many of these Danziger badges were used prior to the Third Reich, there are numerous examples of them in use on Third Reich headgear
My latest TK ............
One More......I love the lack of silver on this variety. I believe that is the tombak metal devoid of any silver plating. Unless this the way they were designed and intended to wear ? I took lots of pics with different backgrounds so that you can appreciate the color. I have another one in the collection that is exactly the same. they look like they were separated at birth
I found this interesting photo of this type of skull in use on a Officer's Field Cap worn by the Freikorps Schwarze Jäger:
CREDIT: German Colonial Uniforms
"The Freikorps Schwarze Jäger were a unit formed mostly from former Marine Infantrymen during the German Revolution in 1919. This is an M1910/14 Marine Infantry Officer's cap in field grey with a black leather peak and chinstrap. Piping and hatband are in white for the Marine Infantry with an officer's imperial cockade on the hatband in the centre. Of special interest is the blackened metal Totenkopf badge of the Freikorps. The red eyes are probably exclusive to officers. The silver thread wreath around the cockade is a distinction not worn by Marine Infantry officers but was usually exclusive to officers of the Imperial Navy."
I posted this variant several months ago but now I have a few pictures of it in use courtesy of Stonemint's, Tk Danziger cap thread.
