Stonemint just posted this great picture of this particular Danziger variant in his ongoing thread.

I believe it's one of these

Congrats Al!
I learned something new about it, I didn't know that unmarked St.& L.L. also existed.
Regards,Jannis.
Jannis, the shared characteristics of the skulls in question are undeniable. Even though it's an assumption on my part, I feel they had to have been produced by the same manufacturer. I have approximately 20 of the common pattern Danziger in my collection and only two unmarked TK's share the same characteristics, defects, finish etc. All my other examples appear to be of an earlier make based on the finish and wear patterns. That is the luxury I have because of my large collection that I can make so many comparisons and draw my own conclusions.
Here are my four Steinhauer & Lück marked skulls, I have many more in depth images for analysis
As for the lack of RZM stamp I defer to Friedrich-Berthold, the sage of such matters. I'll apply his wisdom from early black caps to this subject. His disdain for labeling early caps as pre-rzm because of a lack of a tag or stamp was evident in his many threads. I believe these skulls were rzm stamped once they were being exclusively produced for wear on the the black SS cap. Notice they are all Neusilber finish which is what was prescribed for the black caps.
Here is a quote on post #51 from this thread by F-B. (also read his posts on page 4)
"They are not plentiful. Think of how big the SS was in the period where the RZM instituted the first regime of marking and the phase out of the badge.
You tell me. Not a very long time, ergo, this item is rare. I also assume that there existed ample supplies of badges made earlier, without the RZM
mark, either prior to 1933, or despite the requirement and so on.
Congratulations."

Al, I believe your observations are correct.
I have also seen features in these three skulls, two unmarked and one marked, that repeat themselves exactly.
IMO, this can only be done with the same stamp.
I think you can talk about unmarked and marked ST&L skulls.
Thanks for your time and help.
Regards, Jannis.
Nice additions, Aldo. Ich liebe das neusilber!
A good assessment. I agree with the both of you that these unmarked and marked S.T. & L. were made from the same dies.
