Collection of Gebirgsjäger Gear

Added this to my collection of Gebirgsjager / Mountain Troop Items. This book was presented to Oberkompanieführer Franz Schafzahl when discharged from active service in 1941. 142-page hardcover book with dust cover by Major Manz was published in 1939 by order of the Generalkommando XVIII Alpenkorps by NS-Gauverlag Tirol in Innsbruck. It is a very comprehensive original Third Reich photo documentation about the Mountain Troops.

Located another set of sun / snow goggles for my Gebirgsjager collection. A rarer and harder to find pair I have only seen a couple times. Metal frame with rubber translucent casing tubes to protect ear frames and easier for wear. Brown leather exterior wing glare tabs with red leather interior lined with metal air grommets. Leather stitched and sewn nose bridge as well. Really nice condition. I even found period photo I believe of the glasses in wear on too along with a similar looking pair on the soldier in the white anorak.

I have been working on finding a pair of vintage skis to go with my Gebirgsjager items. Worked with a collector in Germany to bring these into my collection. I am excited to set them up with the other Gebirgsjager items in the collection room once finished in September. Wish I had some snow to photograph them but guess summer it is for now. My friend Anthony put this together Diorama for me. About 1/6 size and about 13" tall. When I get my Gebirgsjäger display up in the next few months it will be a nice addition for the mix. His attention to detail on each component is pretty amazing and he is very good at replicating a been there look to his models.

Thanks Rose. Have moved recently so I have to set up my displays again one day. I now have pictures of each item on site, but when set up I will share pictures.

Pretty cool little period tin I picked up for the Gebirgsjager display. Have not seen one ever before. Assumed it could have been used by Mountain Jager and Gebirgsjager troops. Either way it was a cheap vintage pick up. Inside still has some residue in it and smells like WW2. I know Gloria was associated on many brands and in songs.
