Article about: Hi, Found a huge amount of WWI documentation in my grandads loft recently which I will upload. However, I also found this flying helmet (suspect its WWII?). Could anyone tell me what it is?

what would one use to treat, green grease with? / verdigris?
I usually use an old soft toothbrush with a bit of beeswax polish or leather cream on anything brass showing through the leather - although you would be better scraping the verdigris off the studs showing through the inner lining. Patience and time will be rewarded!

    Cheers,
    Steve

Why don't you keep them within the family? While a museum may take them off your hands, there is no guarantee that they will ever display them. They would surely have more of an emotional attachment to your family than any museum. Frame the medals and hang them on the wall with pride, and when you look at those two medals you might pause for a moment and consider what your grandfather went through to earn them. There should also be a 1914/15 star as well.

    Cheers,
    Steve
