Here I cropped a pic of mine. It has where the mic would go, But no mic or cord coming off of it.

    Hence the throat mic.

From what I understand is the fighter pilots used the ones with the mic incorporated first. Then later in the war aircrews were equipped with them.
Fighter pilot have their hands full and taking there hand off the throttle or stick to talk would not work in their favor in a dog fight.

    Hey Everybody,
Since I had that time off, this is the B-4 life preserver I was asking about cleaning, It turned out quite well.
I got it all done and decided to add it to my Phil display. Going by the picture of Phil on the left, I'll need to add a B-3 flight jacket and B-3 life preserver to make it correct. I'm working on that, But this will have to do till then.
I added the shades for the Top Gun look!!

    Thanks Rick,

I took the gentle approach for the cleaning and tried to avoid scrubbing any area's that had a ink stamps on it.

I didn't want to fade any of the mfg. dates and inspection stamps.

Now I can check the B-4 off the list and move on to a B-3.

    Thank you Good Sir!!!

I feel like I am bragging about a gold nugget I found when I'm in Fort Knox.
There are many GREAT collections shared here. I have a humble starter kit...
But yes,This is getting further down the line.
What started out with me being happy with the coveralls and Trousers,
now has me searching for the next Photo's equipment being worn.

That one took in the Life preserver and now that B-3 jacket looks to be on the list now..

I have to say I am enjoying this chase!!!

Just minutes ago I won a 8th AF TSgt shirt. I need that for the Joe display.
    Love'n It!!

    Just an FYI.

Phil turned 100 today and from what I am being told, he had a great parade to honor him and the Mayor of The Dalles who attended, made it offically Phil Chaperon day in the city.

I should be talking with him later today when I get off work.

It is with a sad and Heavy heart I say that my Friend,
TSgt Phillip William Chaperon has left this earth at 0400 today.
He joins the Fioretti crew for that final milk run mission home!
Thank you my Friend. You were my window into the past.
God Bless You for your service to this Great Nation.
