My Verwundetenabzeichen Collection
Evening, friends! After much searching, I've finally landed a nice Verwundetenabzeichen in gold, marked "107" for Carl Wild.
Now that I've finally got my hands on one, I though I'd put the whole family together for a photo.
Black badges exhibit various marks, such as: ’100’ (Wächtler & Lange), '3' (Wilhelm Deumer), '4' (Steinhauer & Lück), 'EH126' (Eduard Hahn), plus a few unmarked examaples.
Silver badges show marks from: '13' (Gustav Brehmer), '30' (firm of Hauptmünzamt), '107' (Carl Wild) (two of these)
Thanks for having a look.

Beautiful! Wound Badges have always been my favorite to collect.

A nice Carl Wild gold, congrats!
It would seem that these ones with the cast in place hinge and catch, (not seen that often), seem to keep their finish a bit better than the more common sheet metal hinge examples.

Thank you! The gold badge, not surprisingly, was the final purchase. It's not a perfect badge, but it still displays much more gold gilding that most of the other examples I've handled. Thanks again!

Mine as well! It's such a simple, eye-catching design. I was showing my display of badges and awards to a friend, and I thought it was funny that out of all the awards in the cabinet, he picked out the wound badges and said, "hey, these are nice... what are they?". I guess even non-collectors are drawn to them.

I've always wondered what made the gilding on these disappear, other than wear and handling... it's almost like, and I'm no metallurgist, but the gold badges sort of "absorb" the gilding over time. I wonder if there's actually something to that? Thanks for having a look!

Thanks, Santi! Every time I go shopping for militaria and see a nice example of a wound badge, it's sort of hard not to add another one to the collection.
