James, we may have crossed paths somehow, who knows? One thing for sure we'll keep meeting. Soon I'll start to post in helmets of the world as well.
Most of the ex Warsaw Pact countries had amazing camo once, they were not shy with design & colours! The salamander is a good testimony of it. Take care.
The Frogskin pattern (1968) was issued to Bulgarian Border Patrols or Federal Border Guards. Front pockets could hold three AK47 mag each. Enjoy

Were the pockets reinforced? 3 loaded 30 round magazines would wear through fabric in no time otherwise. PS The basic background print pattern appears to be the rain type used by GDR troops.
Hi Lithgow, thanks for your interest. As for the pockets, they are not reinforced but have separated compartment, I agree forget the full load. The rain pattern is on top of the Frogskin one, the colour is a red brown, the shape thicker than the GDR one. Take care. Jack
Nice set Jack i have a helmet cover in this pattern ,i believe the Bulgarian Frogskin is identical to Czechoslovakian Jelici (Rain) pattern in many ways
Your right James I believe it was a compromise to blend both patterns so everyone was happy,. As we know there was pressure then for Warsaw Pact members to standardise their field uniforms.
