    Amongst some other more easily identifiable relics, we found these 2 identical panther/leopard/big feline figurines in remarkable conserved state at about 50m from each other. The location of the items was close to what seemed to be a foxhole where we also found a lot of vest buttons. No idea about Allied or Axis. Does anybody knows what purpose these could have served? When there are 2, there must have been more no? Anybody has an idea about the material they are made of? They are non magnetic and don't show any sign of oxidation.

    Good looking items. If made out of a base metal I wonder if they had been originally silver plated. So perhaps a Knife rest?

    Thanks for the help Mark, you were right. Tin knife rest produced by German company Kayserzinn around 1900. Rests only the question how it end up in a foxhole? Maybe taken by American soldiers from a German home?

    Soldier , child , thief , it's impossible to tell really . Metal detectors undercover only questions usually " how the hell did that get there ? " Interesting find.
