Wait from Dimas for a valid opinion on these....

However, the only question I have concerning these pertain to the reverse:

Is the backing material gray colored?

Yes, the backing is gray. Black material is smooth velvet like.

The tankman is for sure, what is the length? Looks like a nice war time or prewar example ( I think M 35 )

    Thanks guys.
I planned to use these to restore one overcoat but thinking keeping them as they are. They are still attached to each other by a thread from the corners.

Is it an attribute to have gray cloth backing on M35 tabs? 99% of all M43 shinel-coat tabs that I own have such a backing. All of my authentic M35 tabs are backed with (natural) rough weave cotton and are considerably shorter than M43 tabs...

Richie, mint M 35 tabs are longer and is 10 cm long, the M 43 mint tabs I had, are shorter, the field tabs M 43 I have is approx 7 cm length. Doesent matter what are used as backing ( I have a pair which has civil underwear backing with some funny drawings used on them).
Kass, better to keep the tabs as is, and at least for restoring a M 35 gimnasterka. If you are looking to restore M 40 overcoat as used after 1943 year, I can help you with getting a pair of M 43 field tabs for infantry or for artillery/armored troops.

Dimas, yes I am interested having a infantry tabs and boards on my coat. It all depends.
The coat has thread traces as the boards were stitched on like postwar ones. Just plain shoulderboard....no button and no tong. Was this practiced also during the war or the coat has been used postwar?
The coat is on the right. Next to it is a 44 dated officer one. Guess to find insignia there is hard and expensive.

    k.
