"D. MIL.KART. INST. WARSCHAU" = "Deutsches Militär-Kartographisches Institut Warschau" [German Military Cartographic Institute, Warsaw].
I cannot comment on authenticity.
Agree on the unit, which only existed from 1941-1943. Very unusual. Would want to know where it came from, but it looks OK to me.by HPL2008
I have checked and Germans took the Polish Army Map institute building in 1939 and They were called Kriegskarten- und Vermessungswesensamt Warschau, They produce maps for Wermacht. Building was destroyed during Warsaw uprising,

AND the memory wall for those who were killed by Nazis during WW2 ( for the workers of that Army Map unit)
