    Stamm Kartei is interesting.
    Couldn't remember to have seen "Kartei" on a tag before.

    The tag it self is a typical stainless steel blanc which suffered under contact with rust and/or fire.
    WW2 German stainless steel tags are always magnetic.

    Stamm Kartei is a new one for me as well. I wonder if this is more of an administrative role rather than within a field unit.

    I did some looking around and found one topic with (maybe) an answer. I had to translate from German to English so I hope it is the correct translation:

    Stamm Schwadron,Stamm Batterie,Stamm Kompanie,Stamm Kanzlei, Stamm Kartei.......
    I think it will all be pretty much the same.
    I think that means the solid base of trainers etc. of the respective units ...
