Although not Luftwaffe... if I may contribute some shots of my little display showing the Heer award document and EKM to Obergefreiter Paul John.
I have not sat down yet to try and research the unit, but it appears he kept his EKM issued by his training unit. I'm no specialist on EKM's, but in my experience that was a common practice. A Kraftfahrer unit but "Batterie" indicating a link to (anti-aircraft) artillery. The document was signed by Generalleutnant Eugen Wößner. Sorry that all photos are at an angle. That was to keep the reflection of the camera out of the glass.
