It's possible they might have known each other. However as far as I know this unit was composed of former Kriegsmarine personnel but didn't operate from ships and was under the control of the Heer.

the payroll number on tags... if the number is low would that indicate a high rank . if so was that continued after the war ended?

To me it seems this POW tags were never been issued and came from one find.

Formed 3.45 in Pillau under Festung Pillau (under Army command).
Not POW tags
