Re: Luftwaffe-related tag? please help.
the Mob Nr. 53639 is listed as 4./K. Gruppe zür besonderen Verfügung 9, 1./ Tr. G. 9, 3./ Tr. G. 9, 4./ Tr. G. 9, Stab/ Tr. G. 3, and 4./ Tr. G. 3; Unfortunately, I'm doubtful the disc is real though- the immediate red flags are the text type- tall and narrow, and the fact that the blood group 'O' and the '0' of the Stammrollennummer are the same, which is totally wrong. Luftwaffe coded discs are a tough thing to collect because being only numbers, they're even easier to fake than regular discs. The other troubles with this one are no appreciable wear and 'corrosion' that looks as though a paper towel or bit of fabric were soaked in a thin acid, crumpled up and placed on on top of it- neither of which is diagnostic by itself, but taken with the suspect font and definitely bad 'O' '0' problem and it's further weight for the idea that it's probably bad. Sorry.
It's lucky you were only given this one and didn't pay for it. And I fixed the double picture

Re: Luftwaffe-related tag? please help.
Thank you Matt for your reply.
As always you give good information.
I will stay away from these "numbers only"
Best regards

Re: Luftwaffe-related tag? please help.
Well nobody needs avoid them completely, but just to be aware they're the most difficult to authenticate; usually I find they either are clearly real or just unknown- the former you can buy with confidence, the latter are best left, unless they're potentially really interesting and are very inexpensive. I've taken a chance on a couple because of these factors- there's almost no way to know for sure if they're real but it wasn't such a big deal. We're actually fortunate with this one as it's pretty clearly not real and of course you didn't pay for it
