A beautifully written epitaph, Rick.
I never met him, of course, but I miss him...

Live to ride -- Ride to live
I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
One of the fine heroes to now walk the Elysian fields.
Thank you for a great story of a true hero.
May his legacy forever live on.

Thanks for Replies Gentlemen , Appreciated.
I just thought you lot may have been interested as not many WW2 vets left anywhere these days .
He never married you know , was married to the RAAF for over 30 years lol.
He did build and fly his own Gyrocopter 30 years ago but it ended when he clipped power lines on his farm and that was it , no more flying .
His greatest love in flying planes was the C-130 Hercules , after years on the Lincoln which was still only a modified WW2 Lancaster was a revelation to him.
Like him the C-130 has had a great long life as well.
Cheers Rick

Very lucky to have had him Rick, in your life. i send my condolences to you and your family. RIP
And thank you for sharing.
They look a lot better in colour than black & white , note the tail numbers between the two photos.

Sorry to hear that Rick. You have my condolences. That part of the Greatest Generation is leaving us now. We must Always Remember and Never Forget the sacrifices they made for us and keep their memory alive. !!
RIP SIR!!!

I pulled out his jacket out of the wardrobe to show you.
Next year I will have had it for 50 years !
It's a private purchase item , Windshield Products , still had the David Jones Tag on it.
I had it repaired in the mid 80's , Greg Quinn that used to make my motorcycle racing leathers did a 1st class job repairing the stitching around the armpits as was falling apart.
Hope you like

Very, Very Nice Rick, I love tags as well and the DJ's tag is very similar to this 1940 "made by" sorry I just had to mention it.
