Hereby I wanna show my latest Bravery medal. It is awarded to Senior Sergeant Filipp Ostapovich Bakhmach. The Bravery medal is serial numbered # 147295 and has a replaced suspension, done by the mint it seems. This Bravery medal was awarded for actions during the prelude to the battle of Kursk which started only a short time later. Myself I didn't come across that many Kursk related awards yet so it was quite nice when the research came back to me. Apart from this Bravery medal Filipp was furthermore awarded a 2nd Bravery medal in 1944 and an Order of the Red Star in 1945.
Here's the citation for which Filipp was awarded his first Bravery medal (as usual with these Bravery citations also this one is quite short):
"During the fighting on January 28, 1943 at the village of Chesnochnoye in Kursk Province, he clashed with a column of German troops. At a distance of 400 meters from the column he deployed his mortar and in direct fire mode he dispersed the column of Germans, who abandoned their vehicles and equipment and made a hasty retreat.
For the valor and bravery he displayed in the process he deserves to be awarded the Medal for Courage."
Filipp's awards as shown on Pamyat Naroda (which is confirmed by his Record card shown above):
On this map the village of Chesnochnoye can be seen in relation to Kursk locationwise.
