Budapest Medal, a Fake?

Article about: I do not think it is, but it is worth asking. I found a Budapest medal, which I might try and get, but the soldering ring looks off.

With these new pics I have to agree. Apart from the already mentioned flaws the stamping also is very 'soft'. This shows that good pics are always necessary and one can't judge too fast based on not good pics. Lesson learned.

OK. I will leave ekt, and find a more trusting one. Also, what is the rarest variants of the medal? Would it be a raised border (on reverse) or none, and is there rarity, like a soldered ring, u ring, voenkomat.?

Default For the capture of budapest

With the larger photos it is possible to give a better judgment about the medal and the medal does not look good.
The medal "for the capture of budapest" has been awarded 362,050 times, making it rarer than the other "for the capture of ..." medals. For this reason it will be copied.
You should always be careful with rare medals offered.
Especially if you buy the medal on the Internet and can only judge it through photos. Always ask the seller for good detailed photos.
As a reference you can use the website ОРДЕНА И МЕДАЛИ СССР.

Thank you for the information. Also, does this guy seem trusting at all? He says he is able to find awarded people with a serial no.

I would heartily recommend Forum Member Auke for research on numbered awards. Here is his website: Research service.

I agree. Both Auke and Igor (Egorka) are highly recommendable.
