I have a small box filled with silver soviet awards which look like they were headed for the smelter at some point. None have eyelets and some are seriously abused. This particular medal looks like it was used as a keychain for a long time as the edges are all pock marked and rounded over and from the back it looks like someone used it to pry something as it has a deep groove on the back and a slight bulge on the front. This seemed like a very sad state for the hero's award.

So here is the sole numbered award of Sergei Illarionovich Kavun, T-34 tank driver. I tried not to over do the return to a hanging award using an original pad/ribbon that wouldn't make it such a stark looking restore. I think this was a respectful transformation.
