I can't say anything about originality. But for research contact Auke or Igor from this forum, both do excellent research work and they can provide the name of awardee with additional info (if this star has been awarded that is of course):
Auke de Vlieger
Research Soviet Orders – Research EGORKA
Unfortunately this one is fake. Had it been real, this would have been its recipient:
Герой Советского Союза Бедренко Николай Васильевич :: Герои страны
Thanks Auke. I already had my suspicions since there are several inconsistencies but since I don't own a gold star myself I decided to keep my opinion for myself.
Edit: how to search the Heroes by award number on this page you linked? I was trying to figure it out but didn't manage myself this morning
Thanks for helps Auke.
can I ask how can you recognize it? it is probably quite a good copy, I was convinced that it is original and more so made of gold
Igor
Hello!
I am concurring with what Auke already told you. It is not good.
This artefact is being currently offered on one of the Polish internet auction sites. Current bid is about 2000€. Oh, well...
There are many tells about this one, but one easy tell is about the shape of the digits. Look how the "4" is different....
Marcel, I haven’t found an ‘official’ way of searching the site by serial number, but if you Google ‘герой советского союза’ in combination with a serial number, the relevant Warheroes page is always one of the top results.
Thanks a lot Auke. An obvious solution indeed. I did try in English but that didn't give me what I wanted. It didn't occur to me to write in Cyrillic
To simply find the awardee, I put in:
warheroes.ru "№ xxxx"
It will immediatley gve the site as results, which have "№ xxxx"
For example, if I was to search "№ 1", then I'd find the first people awarded such awards, such as Lyapidevsky, with the first HSU, and Stalin, for the first HSL. The "№ xxxx" must be in quotations.
Thanks!
