Default New Order Of Glory III Class

This is my newest (and probably my favorite) Order of Glory III Class I just received from Atlantic Crossroads/ CollectRussia.com.
    Description:
Order of Glory, 3rd class, Type 2, Variation 1, #107779, awarded on 25 May 1944 to Medical Corps Sergeant Major Klavdiya Myshlyaeva, medic of a PTR antitank rifle company, 79th Tank Brigade, 19th Tank Corps, 4th Ukrainian Front, for personal bravery and selflessness exhibited on the battlefield during the Liberation of Crimea.
A native of the city of Serpukhov near Moscow, Klavdiya Myshlyaeva had apparently received at least some formal medical training prior to the Patriotic War - which would explain why she was drafted into the Red Army at the age of 19 on 7 July 1941, merely two weeks after the German invasion. Interestingly, her place of enlistment was the city of Khabarovsk in the Soviet Far East, which may suggest that her family had relocated there - or very possibly had been exiled - prior to the war. In 1942, Myshlyaeva was appointed to a frontline unit of the Central Front as a medic and in September of that year, was seriously wounded in combat. She nevertheless remained on active duty and by October 1943, had been promoted to Sergeant Major, the highest Soviet NCO rank.

In late October - November 1943, Myshlyaeva participated in the liberation of the city of Melitopol in southeastern Ukraine as the medic of а motorized rifle and machine gun battalion of the 79th Tank Brigade, 19th Tank Corps, 4th Ukrainian Front. On 24 October, during an intensive enemy artillery barrage unleashed upon her battalion she gave first aid to 10 wounded soldiers and carried them to safety while completely disregarding danger to her own life. Five days later, she was seriously wounded in combat near the village of Grigoryevka but nevertheless managed to evacuate 15 wounded soldiers from the battlefield by crawling and literally dragging them over open terrain under machine gun fire. With her wound still unhealed, Myshlyaeva continued to carry on with her duties well into the next month. On 11 November, she was recommended for her first decoration of the war, an Order of the Red Star which was bestowed on her two days later by a decree of the tank brigade.

In April - May 1944, while serving in the same capacity with a 79th Tank Brigade's PTR antitank rifle battalion, Myshlyaeva took part in the storming of Crimea. On the onset of the Crimean offensive, the brigade jumped off from the previously captured position on the southern shore of the Sivash, a shallow lagoon separating northeastern part of the Crimean Peninsula from the mainland. The brigade then engaged in two days of fierce battles among the salt-water lakes near the Sivash and throughout the Isthmus of Perekop that opened a path into the Crimean interior. Myshlyaeva once again showed examples of valor while giving first aid to the wounded directly on the battlefield. She bandaged 15 soldiers and carried 25 of the wounded to safety (never forgetting to also pick up and bring back their weapons!) Although wounded in an enemy air raid, Myshlyaeva nevertheless remained with her unit providing medical help to soldiers in need through the end of the operation. On 14 May, two days after the triumphant conclusion of the battle for Crimea, she was recommended for an Order of Glory 3rd. This strictly combat decoration, a very uncommon award for a woman, was bestowed upon Myshlyaeva on 25 May 1944 by a decree of the 19th Tank Corps. It is worth noting that her 79th Tank Brigade had acquitted itself so well in the fighting on the Sivash beachhead that on 24 April, well before the battle for Crimea was over, the brigade was given an honorific title of Sivashskaya - i.e. "of Sivash fame".

After two months of rest and refitting following the liberation of Crimea, the 79th Tank Brigade was transferred north to join the 1st and later, 2nd Baltic Front in the offensives in Lithuania and Latvia. In late December 1944, it stormed a fortified German defensive line near the city of Mitava (Jelgawa) in central Latvia. During the breakthrough, Myshlyaeva once again showed outstanding bravery and dedication to duty, now serving as medic of a motorized submachine gun battalion. She advanced with the forward ranks of the infantry constantly providing first aid to the wounded. On her own, she carried close to 30 wounded soldiers to safety from areas exposed to machine gun and mortar fire. For this feat, she was awarded with her second Order of the Red Star on 10 January 1945.

Myshlyaeva remained on active duty in the same unit through the end of WW2. She was discharged from the military in October 1945 but as of February 1947, her mailing address was still a military unit post office box; her occupation at time was listed in the archival award record as "wife of an officer of the 79th Tank Regiment". By that time, she had taken her husband's last name Likhatkov(a) although her maiden name Myshlyaeva was also mentioned in the archival paperwork.

And if you check the third link, named Боевой путь, you will see the route she travelled during the war (not always 100% accurate or 100% complete but gives a good idea anyway!).

Not too often. I have a Order of the Red Star to awarded to Lieutenant of Medical Service Zhevandrovna, Vera Vasilievna. Head Nurse of the Evacuation Hospital 2386. Highly qualified diet specialist with a specialized education. On the fronts of World War II from the first days. Over the past three years, she has been managing the diet and special diet for the seriously and wounded.

Working tirelessly, regardless of the time, she is systematically involved with the dietitians of the department to improve their qualifications. Finding out the issues of special nutrition, she manages the nutrition of the seriously injured while meeting their demand, which greatly helped to quickly restore their health and return many thousands of injured.

Of particular note is the organization of nutrition for a severe group of wounded and infectious patients where nutrition issues are of particular importance. The indicated category has always been under the special supervision and tireless care of Comrade Zhevandrovna.
