Thanks a lot! Much appreciated! I knew the award was for Stalingrad. It was for sale on Matt's webpage with research done by Igor. I just continued my own research since that is what I love to do, digging deeper into these small pieces of history and trying to find the locations on modern maps. Of course a Stalingrad piece is always a bit more 'special' though I have to say I like digging into history with every award, no matter if it is a Stalingrad award or any other common award. Unfortunately I just can't dig deep enough as I wish due to my lack of writing/reading Russian. But even with that disability I sometimes can get quite far

Managed to find a battle map from december 1942 where the frontline is directly at hill 139,7, as mentioned in the citation for this Red Banner. Such maps really give a better view on the situation, more than any words could describe.

The full map and a small detail with the location hill 139,7:

    Nice pick Marcel!
I was considering this one too... But I am glad it ended up in a good carrying home!
BTW, his officer service record does not have a photo attached. So, you can save the bucks unless you want the record itself.

Thanks Igor. I still consider getting his service record. Of course a photo adds a lot but even without a photo it is all interesting information.
My problem now is, I have too many awards I wanna get researched so it now comes down to chosing which awards come first in this
