2 Pdr cartridge 1937...too many markings!!!??..

Article about: Hi all picked this up in a retro shop recently... It has a multitude of markings... I can see the obvious ones such as the 1937 date.. and 2 Pdr... but the others are making my head spin!! a

    Default 2 Pdr cartridge 1937...too many markings!!!??..

    Hi all picked this up in a retro shop recently...
    It has a multitude of markings...
    I can see the obvious ones such as the 1937 date.. and 2 Pdr... but the others are making my head spin!! and what would it have been used for?????
    sadly this has been subject to conversion to a naïve "trench art" Vase/spiders "pantry" see pics......... but....I suppose at least it still exists...as such...with markings intact!!
    any help would be much appreciated...thanks!!
