20MM Flak 38 - Is it safe? What happened?

Article about: Hey guys! Newbie to the forums here. Dug up this 20mm flak head somewhere in Germany, in a small river not far from a railroad. It seems like the fuse/detonator is gone and part of the shell

Here’s a reminder of what the 20X138B round was meant to do

Just except it’s a car and not a plane

Guys guys guys, the round has been safely moved to a plastic container filled with water and put in my backyard under various stones. The first person to touch it will be the EOD. So I'm NOT CONSIDERING TOUCHING, DISMANTLING, CLEANING, KEEPING OR EATING THE ROUND.

Thank you all for your concerns and information, very helpful and maybe even saved a life.

Glad to hear you're not going to eat it. From what I hear, they aren't particularly appetizing.

Do your self a favour.. and for every body who lives closely to you...

Please get this explosive device removed, ASAP.

In my humble opinion, you are lucky to be alive.

Aaaargh, the thing has been in a safe location since the first reply and the EOD has already been called to collect it. They don't seem in a huge hurry after I showed them all photos.

That being said, I feel lucky to be alive. But that has many, many other reasons.

You will have a photograph to remember it by. That is more than enough believe me.
