40mm CTA APFSDS shell

Hi guys,

Thought this might be of interest to those with a more modern focus. This is a round from the 40mm Cased Telescoped Armament system as used (or to be used) on Ajax and the recently cancelled Warrior 2. Unlike pretty much all other shells, there is no 'pointy bit' sticking out of the end, instead the projectile is contained completely within the case (last pic, taken from CTA International), this particular example would have contained an armour piercing dart. This could well be the future for ordnance collectors, shelves of uniform cases with slightly different coloured bands around them. Unfortunately nobody at CTA was thinking of future collectors when they made the base slightly domed meaning it doesn't quite stand upright on its own.
