As a continuation of my German AP rounds I picked up a “relic” 5cm APC round.

Only clear markings are “ayl 218” and a lonely letter “ R” opposite
Ayl stands for Richard Stock & Co,. Spiralbohrer-, werkzug- u. Maschinenfabrik AG

with a FES iron driving band. This could of also been used in the PAK gun equivalent the “5cm pak38” I am pretty sure since the KWK is a variation of the PAK gun.

I have also included the tracer fuze known as the BDZ5103 (Bodenzünder 5103).

I have also included a photo with the 37mm kwk36 pzgr and 75mm kwk40 pzgr 39.
All share the same use of the BDZ1503 and it shows the progress the Germans made with AP projectiles to counter the ever increasing levels of armour on allied tanks.

I think I might restore this projectile next summer. I would fill out all the pitting. Paint it black everywhere expect the driving band as it was in WW2 and then add red stencils. I have included a coloured German Manual picture showing all the types of 5cm rounds and their markings

Thanks for having a look.
