Any ideas about what type of bullet this is?

It is either a .303 inch ball Mark II or Mark VI. The Mark II was in service from 1892 until about 1904 and the Mark VI from 1904 until the end of WWI.

It could conceivably be one of the earlier marks of black powder ball but it is unlikely. Unfortunately all the solid round nosed .303 bullets look identical externally.
