Pictures with a scale and any indication of it's history / location / provenance would be good, as well as why you think it is Italian?
It appears to be a BL or QF Separate shell and the Italian 65mm Shrapnel from WW1 is about right.
The 65/17mm HE has the length of that minus the fuze that should be 234mm. They do however appear to use a friction fit into the Cart case which is unusual in the least! It is reported however that the 65/17mm could also be fitted with a Nose Fuze A. D. E. M06/17 instead of the normal Nose Percussion Fuze M10 which involved the removal of the fuze adaptor. So if that is also missing it could allow for the length as the remainder seems to fit and the design is unusual due to no cannelure groove which also fits.
Any one recognise the manufacturer's stamp?
