Mills Bomb No.36M Mk.1

There seems to be very little information available out there on the original waterproofed No.36M Mk.1 Mills Bombs, introduced in 1917 for use in Mesopotamia. One particular thing I’ve been wondering is, did the bulk of these grenades produced during WW1 go to Mesopotamia as originally intended, or did this variant also see service in Europe?

The Grenades are waterproofed with a substance called wool grease. This sets like wax and has to be removed prior to use. The M for mesopotamia was that they could be used in a hot climate, not that they would be sent there. The main difference was the filling and that Baratol can take the temperature as opposed to any number of other WW1 explosive fillings.
The 36 and 36 M both saw servive in Europe but only the M in the middle east.
