    Possibly a home made intruder door alarm fashioned by a former serviceman. I don't know if Henry Krank (Pudsey) still sell them, but there used to be a 12 gauge alarm for sale which was fitted with a shotgun blank cartridge. The device was screwed to a door frame with the trip wire attached to the door. That striker and base plug on the converted Mills bomb would surely have had to be precision made on a lathe, so it isn't the average cobbled together thing usually encountered.

    Yes he still sells them. That surprises me as I thought we'd managed to get them classified as Section 5! However you are quite right in the comparison regarding this items use.
